What Makes Soccer Jersey Fabric Different?
Soccer jerseys are the most technically specific garments in team sport — more demanding than basketball tops (no contact), running singlets (no pulling), or training tees (no 90-minute duration). A soccer jersey must manage the heat output of a player covering 10–13 km per match, withstand pulling and grabbing from opponents, hold a full-color sublimated design that's visible from 50 meters, and maintain its fit and appearance across a 30–40 match season.
We produce soccer jersey fabric in four knit structures: interlock (the standard), mesh (ventilation panels), pique (textured premium), and jacquard (woven-in patterns). All are 100% polyester or polyester-spandex blends, all are sublimation-ready, and all are produced on circular knitting machines at our Sialkot facility with consistent batch-to-batch color and weight control.
Every fabric lot is tested for GSM accuracy (±3%), shrinkage after wash (<2%), colorfastness to washing (Grade 4+), colorfastness to light (Grade 4+), pilling resistance (Martindale Grade 3+), and wicking rate. We maintain sublimation color profiles for repeat orders so your team's colors are identical across seasons — a detail most manufacturers overlook that causes enormous headaches for clubs reordering kits year after year.

What Soccer Demands from Fabric
Soccer is unique — 90 minutes, high-intensity, full-body movement, plus the visual requirement of team identification from distance.
Moisture Wicking
Polyester is inherently hydrophobic — it doesn't absorb water. Sweat is pulled to the fabric surface by capillary action in the knit structure and evaporates rapidly. A player loses 1–2 liters of sweat per match; the fabric must move this volume continuously without becoming saturated.
Lightweight Feel
At 140–160 GSM, a men's match jersey weighs 140–180 grams total. The fabric should be so light the player doesn't think about it — any perceptible weight distracts from performance. This is why mesh panels are critical: they reduce weight in non-structural zones.
Stretch & Recovery
4-way stretch (5–8% spandex) allows the jersey to move with the body during sprinting, jumping, and tackling — then return to its original shape. Without stretch, the jersey rides up, pulls at the shoulders, and restricts arm swing during throwing.
Full Sublimation
The dye becomes part of the polyester fiber at a molecular level — it cannot crack, peel, fade, or wash out. This means club crests, sponsor logos, player names, and complex designs are permanent and identical on every jersey in the order.
Breathability
The knit structure creates micro-channels between yarn loops that allow air circulation. Mesh panels accelerate this by creating larger openings. Without breathability, heat builds up under the jersey, core temperature rises, and performance drops after 60 minutes.
Pull Resistance
Soccer involves constant grabbing and pulling by opponents. The interlock double-knit structure resists deformation and tearing under lateral stress far better than single-knit fabrics. This is why T-shirt fabric (single jersey) is never used for match kits.
Color Visibility
Team identification must be instant from 50+ meters. Sublimated colors on polyester are more saturated and vivid than any other printing method on any other fabric. Under stadium floodlights, polyester reflects light more consistently than natural fibers.
Shape Retention
Polyester interlock has excellent dimensional stability — it doesn't stretch out of shape after repeated wear and washing like cotton. A jersey that fits correctly on Day 1 should fit identically on Day 100. This is critical for professional team kits worn 30–40 times per season.

- Spandex degradation — 4-way stretch versions lose elasticity after 150–200 washes, jersey gradually becomes looser
- Not biodegradable — polyester persists in landfills for 20–200 years, cannot be composted
Branding Soccer Jerseys

Full Sublimation
The dominant method for soccer jerseys. The entire fabric panel is printed using heat-pressed sublimation paper at 200–210°C — the dye gas penetrates the polyester fibers and becomes a permanent part of the fabric. Unlimited colors, photographic detail, gradients, and complex patterns. The print cannot crack, peel, or wash out. Used for the club crest, sponsor logos, front/back designs, sleeve graphics, and collar details — all in a single process.
Heat-Press Vinyl (Names & Numbers)
The industry standard for post-sublimation personalization. Pre-cut vinyl letters and numbers are heat-pressed onto the sublimated jersey at 160–170°C for 8–12 seconds. Available in every font style used in professional football (block, serif, outline, shadow, and custom club fonts). Durable for 50+ washes. Essential for retail jerseys where the customer chooses their name/number at point of sale — blank sublimated jerseys are stocked and personalized on demand.
Screen Printing & Embroidery
Screen printing is used for large-volume orders where the design is simple (1–3 colors) and identical on every jersey — typically sponsor logos on replicas where sublimation isn't used. It's cheaper per-unit than sublimation for runs above 5,000 pieces. Embroidery is used for premium details: club crests on high-end replica jerseys, league patches, and championship badges. It adds texture and perceived value but is too expensive for full-design coverage.
